Last week at Woodward Camp, Airwalk skater Andy Mac held his annual Up Hill Tic Tac race. Three heats of campers have to tic tac on their boards all the way up a hill. The winner of each heat got a boatload of swag, but the fastest overall time got a a free week at camp for 2014! Check out the video above to see how it all went down.
Airwalk surfer Anastasia Ashley made a jump from coast to coast trading in crashing waves for honking taxis. Airwalk and the Harold Hunter Foundation have teamed up this summer, providing free skate clinics to the youth in Brownsville, Brooklyn with the help of Mt. Ollie Baptist Church. HHF developed a partnership with Mt. Ollie Baptist Church in Brownsville last fall. Concerned about the area’s youth and children in their congregation, Mt. Ollie asked HHF to help provide programming that would expose the kids in the area to new activities and divert them away from the negative influences like gangs and drugs that are abundant in the neighborhood. HHF, with monetary support from Airwalk, was able to develop the Mt. Ollie Summer Skateboarding Program, a five-week program that also includes Saturday field trips. Already Famous crew member Wade Yates is one of the lead instructors of the program and he grew up in Brownsville.
“I’ve always wanted to find a way to give back to my community,” Wade says. “Introducing skateboarding to these kids is awesome. When I was growing up in Brownsville, when all the other kids were playing ball, getting into fights or gangs, I would just go into the city, and just skate by myself. I want to give kids that option too.”
More photos and a video of the Mt. Ollie Skate Program coming your way soon.
